TARGET MARKETS

Municipalities and Other State Owned entities:

The services sought by municipalities and other state owned entities are of paramount importance as is also linked to service delivery. Often municipalities and other state owned entities require support in terms of consultation and addressing audit issues raised by the office of the auditor general and with regard to advisory regarding accounting services to account for certain transactions. Further services such as annual financial statements preparation and asset management are sought to ensure that the municipality complies with relevant laws and regulations such as Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA).

Non-employer firms:

Without employees, these firms do not have many of the concerns of larger businesses. However, the owners must be vigilant to protect their own tax liability and sort out how their personal and business tax returns intersect. These firms are generally buyers of tax preparation services. As they grow, this group becomes ripe for outsourced bookkeeping services before they can hire a full-time in-house bookkeeper even so these will require audit or review services.

Other small businesses:

Many of these businesses will have some in-house financial management and bookkeeping help. However, they may be able to save money by outsourcing these services as they are not generally core to what the business seeks to do. These businesses may be comfortable with their situation as a cash producer for their owners or intent on growing or positioning themselves for sale.

While working for the office of the Auditor General South Africa, had provided advice regarding the accounting treatment for Investment Property and the land component of which the Municipality had ownership, however that which was legal occupied by the community of Mohlakeng through which the council resolution was passed by the council transferring the right of ownership to the rightful owners, the advice provided was key in that it resulted in the audit opinion being changed from adverse to unqualified.
